My very first impression was that I really didn't like the matte finish and thought that it dried my lips out even more than an ordinary lipstick. However I did experiment a little and have come up with a few little tips:
♥ this goes for any lipstick really but if you have gone for one of the darker shades, taking care when applying around the edges is vital.
♥ I found that applying the lipstick over my lip balm meant that it didn't last very long even if only a small amount of lip balm was used. I suggest softening the lips well before applying the lipstick as it will be long lasting and have a nice finish. Maybe wear the lip balm throughout the day before applying the lipstick in the evening or if you want it for the daytime, apply lip balm before bed.
♥ If you decide that you want a glossy finish rather than matte, simply go over with some translucent lip gloss - don't use a really cheap one or your lipstick won't last five minutes
I didn't like this product much at first but as with alot of makeup products, a little bit of experimenting can really help.

makeup rediscovery ♡
Very recently, I cleared out my room from top to bottom, chucking out heaps of crap in the process. I came across my old dancing case which had loads of makeup products in that i had completely forgotten about. One of these was this blush and pressed powder duo. It is by a company called 'Yves Rocher' (I didn't actually know that this even existed until now). It is a French company though the product was made in Italy. The pigmentation is great however the pressed powder is far too dark and orangey for my skin tone. The texture is really strange; it's so smooth that it's almost a cream rather than a powder. I have checked out their website and I would say that it's all very reasonabley priced and it all looks very tempting.

tips for eyeliner
♥ test with differvent types of eyeliner: gel, liquid, pen and pencil in order to find your favourite and the easiest to use
♥ Practice makes perfect, even if it means sitting for ages 'wasting' loads of product but it's definitely worth it
♥ use sellotape as a guideline that you can go over without messing up. Line the tape with the outer corner of your eye and the tip of your eyebrow working in thin lines and gradually working upwards. If your going to use tape, I would suggest not using liquid liner as it may crack when removing the tape
♥ if you don't want your eyeliner to be too bold try using brown or grey and go for a thin, small wing
Hope this was helpful xxxx

comparing foundation application
I only used sponges to apply my foundation twice as I couldn't put up with the fact that most of the makeup was going into the sponge rather than on my face. I am aware that there are better makes and I haven't yet tried the real techniques one so don't let me put you off.
If you read my January beauty haul post you'll know that I ordered a real techniques expert face brush off amazon. I use this every day almost as I think it is brilliant, it doesn't leave brush marks, is really soft, applies really well and doesn't absorb much of the foundation.
In my opinion, the only problem with applying foundation with your hands is that it is very difficult to wash off and if you're like me, that will really bother you. Using your hands is a very effective way of applying foundation as it guarantees that there will be no brush marks nor wasted product plus it's free!

quick & easy hairstyle - neat wavy ponytail
I am quite aware that this is a very simple and basic hairstyle and it certainly isn't rocket science. The good thing about this is that you can adapt it to wear either down or in a low side ponytail and it is suitable for just about any occasion.
What I did:
The first thing that I did was tie my hair back into a high ponytail. I then applied my lee stafford poker straight flat iron protection shine mist (which is really good stuff) and brushed it through the lengths of my hair with my tangle teezer. I then used Nicky Clarke hair therapy curling tongs (19mm), curling small sections at a time. At this stage I used TRESemmé freeze hold hairspray and left my hair curly for about ten minutes - this isn't necessary and probably doesn't make a difference. I brushed out the curls with my tangle teezer until it was wavy. I neatened the pony tail by guiding it and spraying with hairspray. I also sprayed my baby hair but left the bits at the front as I think they look cute. You're done!
I hope that this was helpful and inspired you.

Emily

Self esteem
I think that with our society, most girls struggle to like themselves for how they are. We are surrounded by social media which Portrays celebrities as being completely flawless. I can assure you that EVERYONE has their flaws and is probably quite insecure about at least one of their features. If I'm honest, I quite often look at someone and think to myself 'I literally can't find a single flaw' but when I think harder I notice, we'll she has quite a big nose but it really really suits her. I think that we need to accept that our faces and bodies will never be perfect, our strange features suit us and we are meant to be exactly how we are. In my opinion, people who have surgery to change the way they look are just super insecure and refuse to be the way they are meant to be, they also never look normal after surgery and it is probably one of the worst things you can do to yourself as you can never turn back.
Over the years, I have discovered a number of famous as well as non famous people that are perfect to me and to be honest they are completely different to each other.
If you have bad skin, makeup is your friend
If you have thin hair, extensions are your friend
If you lack in confidence, your family are there for you
Remember there is a solution to everything and in someone's eyes you are perfect.

♡ REVIEW: Lee Stafford poker straight flat iron protection shine mist 200ml ♡
RRP £5.99
I didn't actually pay for this product, it was free with my BLISS magazine subscription which was pretty good (this was a while ago and the free gifts change each month). What first appealed to me when testing this out, was the smell which I thought was quite unique; the best way of describing this is: sugar, cherries and lemons. Somehow it also smells quite smokey. The packaging is definitely very nice and though pink certainly isn't one of my favourite colours, I really love this - I'm not saying that that's important, just that it's a bonus. This did actually have a strange effect on the texture of my hair when first applied but when brushed in and dried, there is no trace except for the smell. I use this before blow drying my hair or curling my hair, I set my curling iron to 220 degrees (the highest setting) but have not yet experienced any split ends.
I will definitely repurchase this when I run out as I can't get enough of its unique scent and it does an amazing job at protecting my hair

♡ REVIEW: Rimmel Kate Moss lasting finish matte lipstick in 107 ♡
RRP £5.49
I was quite sceptical after purchasing this deep red lipstick from feelunique.com, as I thought that it would probably be too bold to wear casualy. I actually really like the colour, it looks to me as if there is a purple tone running through it and it's completely different from any that i have tried before. As well as being the colour of a cherry, it also smells like one too (which I find quite odd but I can't complain). I can't be too sure if it is meant to be scented or if any of the other shades in the range smell different as I haven't yet tried them. The only problem that I had with this lipstick was the matte finish, I honestly didn't know what to expect but I found that it collected loads in the creases and really dried my lips out quite badly. However I started applying Carmex beforehand and this improved the appearance as well as the feel though it didn't last long at all. I'm still undecided and will probably have to try the rimmel lipsticks that aren't matte.

my bucket list ♡
I am constantly telling myself that I will travel the world and do amazing things but never actually attempted to write It all down in one place. I noticed recently that my life isn't really very exciting so I decided to blog my bucket list so that I have things to look forward to and maybe It will inspire you? ...
♥ visit Italy, Pérou, Australia, Florida, India and maybe some other places
♥ go on safari
♥ meet a tamed tiger or lion - fat chance but it's possible isn't it?
♥ see the northern lights
♥ publish a novel
♥ have my teeth whitened
♥ have a pet goat - yep I love goats
♥ live in Italy for a while
♥ work at Liberty of London
♥ design my own shoes and have them made
♥ meet an elephant
♥ sky dive
♥ be an extra in a film - I want to say a zombie film but I'd probably be absolutely terrified of all the other extras :L
... I largely doubt that this is all but I suppose that this is all I come up with right now. I hope that this has given you some ideas of your own.

3 years of hair palaver :/
It's three years back now since I had my hair cut super short, pretty similar to Anne Hathaway 's. I liked it for about a month; at first it seemed great, I felt completely free and actually quite relieved that i didn't have to do much at all with it, though I soon realised that I was surrounded by girls with beautiful long hair that were able to do almost anything with it. I decided that my short hair didn't suit me and I wanted to grow it out again. As you can imagine, it wasn't a quick process.
I braided my bangs and clipped them back just so my hair didn't look so boring. From then on, I tried not to let it all bother me too much and instead focused on my schoolwork and living my childhood as normal.
I went through phases where I researched loads on how to make your hair grow faster. I spent ours crimping and curling in hope for something I was happy with. This may seem slightly ridiculous to some people, but it actually affected my self-asteem and confidence. No one took the mick out of me as far as I know and that actually meant alot as I know that I would have felt alot worse if they did.
I learnt, eventually, to forget, keep calm and carry on. I bleached my hair a few times when it was down to my shoulders but recently decided to go brown. Unsurprisingly, it didn't go directly brown in one step but actually went strangely close to my natural medium blonde colour, though slightly lighter.
My hair is now just past my armpits. Since I was first able to start tighing my hair up, I have worn it down about 5 times simply because I didn't like the way it looked and I wanted it out of my way. I usually plaited it at night and put it in a ponytail in the morning. It was only very recently that a friend told me that wearing your hair up constantly can affect your scalp and lead to hair loss therefore I am now making a big effort to get used to it being down. It seems impractical at many times but I am managing and have actually decided that I like my hair now and with my tangle teezer it is certainly manageable. :)

January beauty haul ♡
Despite it only being the 15th today, i have already purchased a fair amount of makeup this month. A lot of it was bought at Tesco as it is quite convenient for me considering that I go there every week with my mam after having our weekly girls night.
I have recently been using the rimmel stay matte foundation however it's really difficult to blend due to the texture of it and I've known for a good while that i needed a new foundation. Despite my oily T zone, I decided that i wanted a foundation that made my skin glow rather than looking matte. I definitely achieved this by wearing the rimmel wake me up foundation as there are shimmers running through it, as well as this it offers great coverage and has a really fruity smell - not that that matters. The wake me up concealer is very similar to this and is perfect for covering dark under eye circles.
The next thing that I bought was the rimmel fix & perfect pro primer which claims to: smooth, resurface, brighten, mattify and protect. I can't be too sure that it actually does all this though I definitely think that it creates a really nice, even complexion.
Another thing that I bought was the rimmel stay matte pressed powder (I seem to have an obsession with rimmel) I only use a light dusting of this to set my foundation.
If I'm completely honest, I have never actually purchased bronzer or blusher myself; I have always just 'borrowed' them off my mam as she has stacks of makeup from when she was more into makeup as a student, though most products are now discontinued. I'm not very picky with my bronzer and blusher and will settle for cheaper brands as lack of pigmentation means it's easier not to look like a clown. The ones I got were the collection mosaic glow bronzer and MUA blusher which was £1 from superdrug, though I can't remember the price of the bronzer. Whilst at the collection/collection 2000 section of Tesco, I also picked up their brown gel eyeliner as I think black is too bold and I had only ever used liquid and pencil eyeliner before.
I've heard a lot of people rave about the real techniques brushes so I finally decided to order some on amazon. They were roughly ten pounds each so I only got the expert face brush and powder brush. So far I am really enjoying using them and they are so soft. I use the expert face brush for concealer and foundation and the powder brush for applying the pressed powder, bronzer and blusher.
The final thing that I bought was the NYX jumbo eye pencil in milk, which I also ordered from amazon as they are not available in the UK. It is super creamy and I use it to: put in the corners of my eyes, highlight my brow bone and as an eye primer as it brightens eyeshadow as well as making them last longer.
Thank you for reading,

Getting over January blues
I don't tend to make a fuss over the new year and this time I hugged my cat into the new year and kissed him on the nose at midnight. As soon as the decorations are took down I generally feel like there is something missing in my life, a hole I need to fill. I tend to panic in situations like this and look way into the future as I need something to look forward to. I have started listing things for this spring and easter and intend on doing a big LUSH haul probably based on floral scents and easter specials. I also want to start collecting pastel nail varnishes and I might quite honestly go abit OTT when faced with the almighty shelves of boots on my next shopping venture. I also want to focus on pastel clothing and lace as well as vintage style outfits which are perfect for spring. Over the past few weeks I have been eyeing up the big Yankee candles in Tesco (as I go every Tuesday) and I have to say that A LOT of the scents appealed to me but turns out that I had been oblivious to the heaven that was hidden at the back of the shelf and as soon as I smelt "sweatpea",I fell in love instantly, I just hope that it lasts me a long time considering the price of it. "I'm sorry I just couldn't leave it there" was my excuse. Even though it seems a shame to spend my Christmas money so soon, I think it's totally worth it and I totally believe in retail therapy.
With the shoebox that my new shoes came in, I have started collecting a few things to make next christmas even better. This includes DVDs and the Christmas LUSH catalogue. :)
Something that always makes me happy is investing in cozy lounge wear like a new onesie and slipper socks and I mustn't forget my fleece lined tights that I always get, either from primark or home bargains; they're heaven for legs
